OUR STORY
Who we are
Odd Wood Lumber is a family-owned lumber and woodworking company based in Port Richey, Florida. We specialize in furniture-grade hardwoods, custom wood furniture, and building materials that help bring great ideas to life—whether it’s a handcrafted dining table, a full home trim package, or a feature wall clad in real tongue and groove.
We work closely with homeowners, contractors, cabinet shops, builders, and DIYers across Florida—offering not just materials, but advice, service, and reliability. Whether you’re building a business, a home, or a family heirloom, we’d be honored to be part of it.
How we started
Twenty-five years ago, Jamie got his start as a trim and stair carpenter on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Trim carpentry eventually led to manufacturing entertainment centers, closet organizers, and kitchen cabinets. Through these everyday jobs he discovered a love for designing and building furniture and in turn, discovered a dream for the future.
Jamie and Emily were married in 2004; ten years later they purchased a vacation cabin in the mountains of East Tennessee. It was here where Jamie discovered farmers were burning their unused tobacco barns or just leaving them to fall as their industry switched from tobacco to cattle. At the same time, enormous trees in the area were being cut by power companies or blown over in storms and left to rot in place. It was a sad reality for such beautiful lumber; he offered to buy these barns and trees and Odd Wood Lumber was born, selling reclaimed wood and live edge slabs and dimensional lumber.
Since opening our doors in 2020, founders Jamie and Emily have grown Odd Wood Lumber into a trusted source for custom wood furniture, hardwood lumber, and woodworking services across Central Florida. What started as a small family operation has expanded to serve professional craftsmen, contractors, and DIY homeowners alike—all without losing the personal touch that defines who we are.
To better serve our customers, we added state-of-the-art vacuum kiln-drying to our in-house capabilities, allowing us to supply cleaner, more stable wood faster and more reliably. As we continue to grow, our family—including all six of our kids—is proud to build for other families, small businesses, and makers who care about quality and doing things right.
“What a great fun experience I had here. Jamie and Emily have live edge slabs that are milled and kiln dried right there at Odd Wood! I picked out and purchased camphor for my live edge cabinet top and am 100 % satisfied. #FamilyOwned”
